the clutch went out on this d4 while i was driving it about 4-5 years ago, got it runing again (pony issues) so i started diging in to replace the clutch disc. finally got the clutch assembly out and pryed the disc plates apart to find them completly rusty with chunks flaking off.. my question is are these machine'able to get em to working condition or would i be able to find new/useable clutch plates somewhere (have new disc ready to go in)

Never have seen any specs on refacing the plates but they certainly seem thick enough to receive a reasonable resurfacing.....although I've never had to do it. I usually just sandblast them if the surface is not to far gone. I don't believe the plates are available new anymore and the price would floor you if they were. For example Cat currently lists the friction disc at just over $500.
