Just recently purchased a Cat 977 track loader that I use for logging. The other day I was coming into the landing with a load of logs when it came out of gear(powershift)When I put it back in gear it wouldn't move either fwd or rev. After topping off trans oil and replacing filter it finally moved a little but only at full throttle.Any input would be appreciated before I start tearing things apart without really knowing where to start. Thanks Jim

Jim,I take it what you mean by coming out of gear was the shift lever went into neutral by it's self. There is a spring to force it out of gear when you shut down and the trans pressure drops so you don't restart in gear and it start moving. Sounds like you have low trans pressure. Has the trans been over heating lately?

I think pressures are going to tell you a lot Jim.
Glad you have a manual, read up on how the valve controls the pressure. If it happened all of a sudden it may have a broken spring or stuck spool. Pressure drop from high to low idle should only be 10%. Try at low idle in all gears(F R 1 2 ). Come on back when you find out.

Also make sure your linkage is letting you get fully into all gears too.
