We had one for at least 20 years, no significant problems with it, and it was a worn out old girl when we got it. They had either an 8-71N or 8-71T in them, at 295 and 306 hp give or take a couple. I have been told that there is no current rails availalbe for them, but they can be converted to Cat I believe. Also was told that rollers were a weak spot, we replaced all 7 on one side, never touched them again. They are heavy depending on how they are equipped. Ours had a 12' full U dozer, and 7 slab weights on the back, right around 70,000lbs. if I remember correctly.
All in all, a fun machine to run, but buy a good pair of ear muffs.

Of course its got a Detroit. I'm not positive but would guess an 8-71. Terex was a division of GM. There was an 8250 in real good condition at an auction a couple years ago. It had a 12-71 with dual turbo's and was apparently bigger than a D9. The TC12 Euclid or newer 8250 had 2 6-71 engines and was huge. Dave

I made a typo. The newer model TC 12 with dual engines was an 8280 not an 8250. They pivot in the middle and each track has its own engine and transmission. I think they are very rare. Someone told me the Terex dozers were very front end heavy so if the front started to sink, you better back out fast. Dave

I looked at the auction, thinking it was the model with the pair of detroits. From what little I know about them, I can recall that the undercarriage components for these may not convert to something still available, could be wrong, but something to be aware of, if true, you have to wonder about how long ago the owner did the undercarriage work, and if it actually measures to only have 5% wear on all U/C components. The track pads have significantly more wear than 5%, tracks, at least one side looks loose, how much adjustment is left ? Pin bosses don't look hammered, so maybe it's still got some height on the rails, pins/busings, just better to measure all components and see what it compares to on a wear chart, or new dimensions. Looking at photos or just doing a visual inspection really does nothing to make a fair assessment, even if worn quite a bit more, but running good, still might have plenty of use, but the price should reflect the wear. Rear radiator in those is the strangest thing, been on sites with a few of these, but never ran one, mostly Cat's, not much insight for you, but for that price I'd be looking at others as well, in comparison by size and condition. I don't think they were bad tractors, they were around for awhile, but a mechanic who is familiar with these would be the best bet to get story on how they held up and any weak or problem components
