Can anyone help me.....I bought this old dozer from my Uncle, it starts up on gas and runs good but when I try to switch it to the diesel it will try and run for a few but then shut off...after a while it will run on diesel but just takes forever. Anyone know if there is a rebuild kit for the injector and governor still out there? Also once it does start on the diesel the speed can"t be adjusted by the throttle. I took the cover off the governor and the throttle lever moves freely. I"m not and expert mechanic so dont know what I should try.
The injector pump is and American Bosch. Ser Number on the dozer is either TDF 12211 or 1430....there are 2 numbers listed on the data plate but cant read it enough to see which is the ser number. Thanks for any help

I finally got it running good now. Thank you all for the help and advice. It ended up being the rod that goes from the governor to the injector pump, it was frozen up. Once I took the governor off and freed up the rod it ran great, it switched over from gas to diesel with no problem and I can idle it up and down. Amazing how something so simple can cause so much trouble. Thanks to all again.

the motor must run 5min.on gas before transfering on diesel if not you will crack the ead and did you check the fuel filter.

Yes it has a new filter in it. I have run it for over 5 mins on gas and still does the same thing.

Did you check too the air filter or disconnect the pipe from intake and when he is running on diesel just spray a little bit ether and knoking on the fuel pump with a small hammer it could help for getting speed and did you check if the fuel valve is complete open on bottom tank. good luck.

Have you tried bleeding the injectors while youve got it running? I ran one of those outa fuel once and it acted the same way, the throttle didnt seem to work because it never got much over idle speed til I got the air out at which point I had to throttle back on it. It took alot of bleeding too did each one at least twice before it really ran good.

Yes I have tried to bleed out the injectors and that is how I can get it running after quite a few time of doing this. But once it starts and runs on diesel I can not use the hand throttle to adjust the idle. The throttle lever on the governor moves but does not increase or decrese the idle, and if i try to move the dozer it will die after a short distance. Once it starts the idle is pretty high and when I try to move the dozer it will die after a short distance. Thank you for your help.
