Had a guy I know come over to look at the engine and he found lots of metal pieces in the oil filter. Looks like one of the bearings went. Found a 4239 to swap out with the 4219. Are there any parts that have to be swapped besides the oil pan and flywheel housing? The oil pan on the backhoe is a reinforced one. The 4239 is in a compressor.
Thanks

Ever seen one broke?? I've seen several compressor engines used in Backhoes..They might be a weak link as far as block construction goes , but until I've seen one break , I guess I'll stick to my guns..

Somewhere in Deere's production, the engine blocks were changed. The smooth-side, straight-side blocks
are good for your application, are strong enough to be a frame for the tractor's front end to be bolted on. The newer type has less metal, looks like vertical ribs and depressions on the side of the block. The newer type was used in equipment with a separate frame.

The rear engine cover will have to be changed from 1 engine to another..maybe waterpump and maybe injector pump linkage/cable alterations..Maybe exhaust manifolds..And possibly crankshaft pulley..When you change out that rear cover , a new rear main seal will have to be installed..You will need to either borrow a seal installation tool or have the Deere dealer install a new one for you..The seal and crankshaft wear ring have to be installed at the same time..They cannot be seperated and installed as 2 pieces..
