Well Ed check page 150-10-4 in the service manual and tell me it doesn't say NOTE: No disassembly or adjustment of the pressure plate shoud be attempted. And if you keep reading on the other side of the page it says...If any part of the pressure plate is damaged or worn, replace the entire assembly. Do not attempt to adjust it.

I know now that there is a specific tool for adjusting my pressure plate. Would someone please help me find one to use, rent or buy and tell me how to use it.....

Hi Gary,

I haven't worked on an MC but I have done the adjustment on a couple of 420's with sucess. First of all if you are trying to adjust the pressure plate throw out fingers you need to install the pressure plate and clutch to the flywheel and by adjusting the 5/16" bolts under the fingers set the tip of the finger to by 0.75" from the flat stamped steel surface of the pressure plate. Its not critical that the height is exactly .75" but it is important thet all three fingers are the same height.Hopefully this is the adjustment you were asking about. If you needed to know how to adjust the steering brake and the throw out bearing etc let me know.

Regards,

Mike
