Had to drain the fluid from the power steering unit on my old Hough HYA Payloader. Thought that the supply came from the main fluid tank, but after reconnecting find that it must be self contained. This is going to sound like a real dummy, but I can't find a tank for the power steering. Anyone know where it might be or how they filled those things. Right now the only thing I can think is to fill from the hoses straight into the pumpuntil it gets full, run it a bit and keep doing it until the system is full and then sealing the system. If anyone knows how to do this the right way and can help it would be appreciated. Trying to get a manual from the local Dresser dealer, so if available that should help, but meanwhile can use guidance. Thanks in advance.

Hi, not familiar with HYA model but, others I am familiar with share the hydraulic system. No power steering tank. Might try bleeding the lines when system is full. You have to turn the wheel one way then the other to get the hydraulic oil into steering cylinder. Called a steering booster on h25 model. I would think that if you connect the lines and work the wheel back and fourth it would "bleed" itself soon enough. Good Luck.
