TD14A Starter problem

My 1948 TD14 is currently sitting in a creek bed with heavy rain forecast. Starter motor won't engage. have had it out a couple of times, Bendix and ring gear in good order, seems to be spinning right out to the end, any ideas

IF you mean teeth on Bendix AND flywheel ring gear all good, AND when starter off you can easily rotate Bendix out to "engage" position, AND starter shaft appears straight, but when on engine starter just "motors" (spins at high rpm without engaging flywheel ring gear) something in Bendix has to be dirty, worn or broken. If there"s no starter shop close for a check or replacement Bendix and no one you know with a similar rig you can borrow the starter from, you"d better look for a tow or start building a dam...With sympathy...

Many thanks..that is what I suspected..will dissassemble and check for burring/dirt etc.
Came on suddenly, was starting fine, then not.
Nothing available that will tow the old girl, unless I drop the blade off, which is last resort.
