Here's a topic for the forum members. I have been hearing about mixing two-stroke mix oil in uls diesel to lube pumps and injectors. I have several pre '90's diesels including a 7.3 in a Ford pu and a couple of John Deere's. What's the concensus? What's a good mix ratio?

I wouldn't use the ATF in onroad equipment likr trucks and such the fine for the red fuel would be more than the maintenance cost to use nothing. Which is what I do and have over 700,000 on my caterpillar truck engine. Never yet changed an injector. Sure now I will since I'm telling this.

I prefer Lucas Fuel Treatment, more power, less smoke, better fuel millage ,no fuel pump problems,
I have john deere,cummins,case,caterpillar,engines.
also use Howes Lubricator Diesel Treat, does about the same as Lucas. available at most parts stores,
and farm stores. have used ATF as well other oils
with no problems. sonny

It seems to work well as a lubricant as the USLD is not as lubing as the old fuel was.

100:1 up to 200:1 are ratios commonly used.

Here's a link to some independant testing done.

A friend of that's a GM diesel engine mechanic swears by putting transmission fluid in with the diesel at fill up, but I don't know how much.

I read something on another board awhile back that you aren't suposed to use tranny fluid because it has an friction additive in it to make the automatics not slip.
