I have a MF 220 backhoe. The boom swings 60 degrees freely left to right. I can move it without resistance by hand. The rotary cylinder has been rebuilt, still have the problem. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Mark, who rebuilt the rotary swing valve? Unhook the oil lines at the rotary cylinder, lift the boom off the ground and now hand push the boom left and right.Does oil instantly come from the cylinder ports? It should. If not, as someone else said it may still have air in the rotary cylinder.Hook lines back to rotary cylinder. Now crack the 2 lines coming out of the swing lever valve.Crank engine and operate swing lever left and right. Is oil coming out of the valve lines? This will give us a little more info to work with. Thanks, Homer

Chuck the seat should move with the boom left to right. On mine the seat moves as would be expected but the boom doesn't until the seat is about 30 degrees out of line with the boom , than it pulls the boom along with it.

Mark, Tried to find the answer in the service manual but unsure.
Have you used it enough to purge the air out of
the system? Also is the fluid level high enough
so it isn't cavitating? Good luck, Chuck
