Confused about master links

I have a Fiat-Allis 11-B (a late model Hd11), and I"m having trouble splitting the tracks. They are unusual, in that all the pins have a dimple, except one which is plain on both sides. On one side that pin is also welded, so I figured it was the master. I drove it out, with much heat and a custom press, and now what? The bushing extends into the links on either side, so unless the master links slide on their bushing there is no way to split the links. I"m thinking that maybe this wasn"t actually the master link? Suggestions?

I've got a 11B machine like yours. Have you tried to find parts either new or used? I'm having trouble. Berco doesnt make undercarriage parts any more for his machine. I'm checking to see if tracks from a IH/Dresser TD-15 will fit. The link length is the same and the height is close.

I'm slowly gathering a list of vendors. I haven't had any luck finding U/C for the machine, but mine is in really good shape and will probably last the rest of my life anyway. I had to replace an idler, and I'll have to reseal/rebuild one or two rollers. I did find a place that still has new rollers for 300 each. See my next 11B question.

Where did you find the idler and what did you have to pay for it? I've got one that needs rebuilding and I'm not sure if I should or just look for a used one. The center rib is worn on one side and the bearings are loose.

have you tried Minnpar? You can apply for a login online if you have a company name, and then you can order parts directly. It's convenient because all the ordering is online. I have to do final seals, and I found cheap outer seals at Junior's Construction Parts, and cheap inners at Fresno Tractor in CA. Also, check out fpsmitheq.com, they are getting rid of their FA inventory cheap. Feel free to email me direct if you like: jkloepping AT yahoo.com (change the AT to @)

Bob is right i would look for a split master. could all those dimples be plugs?? A machine that size should run with lubed tracks, most bigger new machines do.

No it isn't. The master link has a short bushing and two spacer rings to put into the counterbores of the link so it will come apart. You will need to look at every link joint from the top and try to see one with a short bushing. Or maybe there is one solid looking link with a seraded joint diagonally across it. That would be a bonus, just unbolt the pad and it will come apart.
Later Bob
