I have a clark skidder with a 3 spd powershift trans that slips in all gears . do these have a suction screen for the trans and or do they have a port to test trans application pressure . it is hard for me to believe it slips in all gears the same way . thanks mike

I'm most familiar with the F-series Clark Ranger line. They did have several psi test ports for the trans. There was 2 or 3 on the control valve and 1 on top of the trans. case just above the control valve which is the one that will show you regulated pump pressure.

As I remember it takes a certain snap type coupling to check the pressure but the coupling can be removed and normal fittings rigged up to check the pressure. Good pressure is 240.

When you sit in the seat on the left hand side at the very bottom of the trans. will be a large hex head drain plug that should have a screen attached to the inside of it that fits over the pick-up tube inside the trans.

The biggest problem we ever had with these skidders was the short suction hose between the trans. and charge pump they would suck air there, also the charge pump fitting has an o-ring that gets hard and brittle. And thats a tough place to get in and work.

If it slips in every gear fwd. and rev. likely it is a charge pressure problem but could also be a torque converter problem as well.

Hi should clarify i have the floorboards out so i can see the drive shaft from the con. when it starts slipping i can see the driveshaft turning so it is not stalling the conv. it will start pulling then it will go loose just like the oil supply is cut off . will check the screen and suction line . thanks mike
