Track Removal????

I need to take my tracks off to get the pins and bushings turned. What is the best way to do this? My book says to position the master link pin at the sprocket, remove the pins and walk out of the tracks. Is this correct?

What is the best way to get both pins in the same place on each side with out ending up out in the field turning?

I have removed my sprocket before if you dont have any sprocket guards you can pull all the bolts and lift the track from the top idler and let the track fall over with the sprocket still sitting in the chain. Then drive it out or let the shop do it when they are turning the p and b's

Maybe if you loosen the track adjusters all the way, you can get the track off without having to drive the master pin out. It would be worth trying anyway. If you have lots and lots of slack sag, you should be able to get the tracks back on as well. If you're not sure, at least when the master pin is out it can be tured down a little to make it easier to pound back in. They could probably press it in a little so you don't have to hold it as well. It is a pain pounding master pins. Hope this helps. Dave

you need to loosen the track adjusters all the way ,
because the track will be shorter when pins bushings are turned. brake the at the master pins, if you have a blade on you probably couldn't get the track out, track does have forward direction! when you reinstall.

I usually jack up the machine with the blade or bucket and wood block it off the floor so the tracks can be run off and drug out from underneath..If you block the rear first ,then put down pressure with the blade , then block the front , the machine will be off the ground..With it off the ground , you can run the tracks to whatever position you want..
