About this time I get a few requests to do some work with the bobcat. Have considered it, with some concern about insurance. What rates is being charged in your area? This would not include any dirt work such as backfilling foundations etc. More in the line of brushing, clearing debry and deer trails. Thanks;;

Here in NE tn I get 85.00 for a 580 case backhoe and 100.00 for a 943 Cat track loader My fuel cost 299.9 plus 7.75 tax It runs about 500.00 to fill the tanks on the dump truck. I have to have a 4hr mininum with each machine with travel time on anything less than 8hrs

Thanks for the info; I have been turning them down as I dont have insurance (commercial). Yesterday I did spread dirt in a parking lot for a truck stop owned by a friend. I was going to fill my tank (truck and bobcat) and let it go. they insisted on $150. which came to 50. per hour. That was the minimum they had been quoted just to come out and it may have been a few days before they could make it. Guess there is a market here. If you stay away from work around buildings (excavation or backfilling), do you need insurance? Seems expensive around here. Bob

Going rate here is 65-70 an hour with a two hour minimum. I normally charge 65 for the bucket and 75 with the backhoe attachment. Two hour minimum on the backhoe additional if I have to use another attachment on the job as its a bear to put on. This is on an 1845C Case (65 hp). I just went up from 75 to 80 on a 75 hp dozer, rates close but I got to get 8 hrs to move it.

An 1845 is a size bigger than mine so that rate sounds right. I was giving a price thinking it was doing work for a neighbor or something. At least a 2 hour minumum. There are some guys that have a 3 or 4 hour minumum. Dave

I guess it depends on who you're doing the work for. I charged $50/hr. a few years ago for a 5 ft. wide machine. This was for commercial work though. I'd say somewhere around $30 hr. would be a bargain if you've got some experience running one. Hope this helps. Dave

I meant the bobcat rate, not insurance.
