My Fiat Allis has an AC 11000 series engine in it and there is a mechanical hour meter on the side. Does anyone know if it reads 10ths of an hour, as in 9999.9 hours, or just whole hours as in 99999? I won't have it running again for a bit so I can't just run it to find out now.

Also, the bypass filter sends oil back to a port on the block, but I find that oil actually shoots out from this line (the drain side) when disconnected. Anyone wonder how I found that out? Any AC 11000 motor owners know if that is correct?

My 11B has a Budda engine and the filter is a canister and functions as an engine oil side stream filter. I'm surprised Allis put both the Budda (it's a huge engine) and the 11000 series in their dozers. Is the 11000 series the 427 engine?

Are you refering to the Lubrefiner Filter in a large app 1 gallon canister out on the fender. Many AC's had them installed. They just took a small amount of oil from the oil gallery filtered it and returned it to the sump. As long as the filter can was warm when operating it was working. When it was clogged and needed replacing it would be cold. Info from a "Long in the Tooth" AC mechanic.

The 1 gallon canister type was replaced with the "modern" spin-on. The base has a small metering orifice. Everything seems fine, but I was suprised to see oil pressure on the return line. I suppose that some other pressure line goes to the same sump return point inside the engine, and it creates a small amount of oil pressure there. I've never been inside one of these engines so I don't really know.
