Many thanks for the advice on the injectors. I finally got over to the
tractor today and they came out easy. I took out 2 out of 3 so i
didn't have to re time the rack, i read that somewhere.
Anyway, i have them taken apart, it was an ordeal as they were pretty
solid, but i won.
I have a manual for 71 series, and it kinda goes through taking them
apart, putting them back together seems too straightforward.
I see where i have to line up the gear in the injector to the rack
(the dots) Is this the only thing i have to worry about?
I am figuring out the injector operation as i go, fairly simple.
Will the rack move back and forth only when the injector is depressed?
The spray nozzle is clogged, without buying the DD part, what is a
common thing used to ream out the nozzles?
If there are any other pieces of advice in putting them back together
i would sure appreciate it.
I am getting closer to starting it up, just have to replace the fuel
line, it is rotted out.

Thanks
Chris.

It's been awhile since I had one apart but apart from timing the dotted teeth on the rack with the one on the plunger everything else is simply a matter of stacking the parts back in the correct order. Pretty straightforward. As far as the rack lever moving, and rotating the plunger it should be able to move all the time wether the plunger is depressed or not. If it doesn't then something is binding and you've got a problem. One suggestion, make dang sure that after having them apart, (especially being inexperienced with them) that the emergency shutdown works on the engine before you fire it up the first time. As far as the tips I've always been told it's not advisable to try to clean them. One the holes are realy too small and secondly if you did get something in them that would ream them out it could burr or otherwise deform the square edge of the holes and distort the spray pattern even though the holes are open. In that case your not much better off than you were with them not firing. Good luck.
