Hi all, I usually post on some of the other forums but have a question for you folks over here. I am borrowing a friends older (70's) 510 TLB, and want to try and help him out with a few problems with it. Notably, it only seems to go into 1 or two of the 8 forward speeds, but has all of the reverse speeds. Is there a resonable fix for this?
Also, it is a theft recovery unit, and had all the wiring stripped/cut when the theives tried to start it up. Is there an online wiring diagram for it, or can I just work my way through it?

Sorry for the long post, all help is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike

You will need to get a Tech Manual for this machine..In the Tech Manual is a chart to troubleshoot transmission problems..You will need to come up with several identical gauges and fittings/lines to hook up to bottom of transmission..While testing you will have to read various gauges to see where the problem is.At any given time there will be clutches and brakes applied for each gear selected..On the bottom of the transmission there will be casting number/letter markings [ B1 , B2, C1 , C2 , C3]..While testing , it would be smart to jack up the machine with the stabilizers and backhoe boom to keep the drive tires off the ground.. I use hoses long enough to stay seated while pressure testing is done..Black magic marker on the gauge to identify which function is hooked to it..

Thanks for your reply Roy!

I will see if I can get my hands on a service manual and guages.

Mike
