D-7, is it a 3T or 17A?

I have a question for you D-7 fans and fanatics.
What are the differences between the D7-3T and the D7-17A? I have one or the other but don't know which one. The label plate that is supposed to be on the rear left side of the block is gone. The one on the rear end is covered by the Hyster D7-N winch and I ain't taking it off just to find a serial number.

Take a look at the injectors and injection pumps.
The 3T D8800 engine used the tall injectors with the connecting drain lines at the top and the tall injection pumps with the grooved nut/top.
The 17A D339 engine uses the later capsule type injectors (no connecting drain lines) and the short (smooth top) injection pumps.

Hey thanks for the info. I checked last night to see what I have and sure enough, T-A-L-L injectors with a return line, and notched nuts just like you said. I guess this means I have a 3T. I will keep looking to see if I can find the serial number though.

it should be stamped in the engine block casting.scrape the paint off. BUT the encine may have been changed. also loon on top to the treering clutch case. some one may have done the right thing and moved the SN plate or stamped the SN there

Thank you very much for the advice Bob. I was just out crawling all over my D7 following your advice and I found the tag, mounted on the aft left side of the engine block just as every one said only I was expecting to be higher up on the block. Once I started to scaped off the grease/dirt and just kept going lower and lower, then I started seeing the outline of the label plate. It was slightly below and even with the aft end of the electric starter for the pony motor. The serial number of my machine is D7-3T 2517 SP. Thank you for advice!
