I lost a lower pin on the swing frame and before I realized it I broke the opposite mounting hole. The boom fell right of the back. The only thing holding it was the main boom cylinder. Can this be welded and have enough strength to support the boom while digging? What are my options. Thanks

Wengers was a close hit on my part. Tractor house didn't work out either. Any other scrap yards?

It's most likely cast steel that has other components welded to it, so yes it can be welded. Unless you're really proficient at welding, take it to a good welding shop that does work on heavy equipment. 7018 or stronger would be the rods to use. Where it broke would have to be bevelled out for 100% penetration and preheat would be beneficial. As long as it's allowed to slow cool inside a warm shop will be fine. You could throw a fire blanket or something over it to let it cool a little slower. If it was repaired really carefully, you might be able to clean up the bore with a die grinder or a cone grinding wheel. I would think that there is bushings inside the bore as well. Hope this helps. Dave

It can be welded, but to do it properly it will need to be heated first, welded, reheated, then allowed to cool, preferably packed in sand. Then the hole(s) will have to be line bored. Next and probably considerably less expensive would be to purchase a good used swing frame from a salvage yard. If the swing frame saddle on the tractor itself sustained any damage or if the holes are worn it will pay to have it repaired and line bored so you don't have a repeat of what just happened.
