My friend knows a guy with what he said is a jd 440 crawler loader for sale. I called the guy who owns it and he didn't know the model # but said he thought it was a 1948 or 49. He said it might be as late as a 1952 but he didn't think so. I thought the 440's were made in the late 50's early 60's. I was thinking it was a MC or a 40c. He did say it has a loader on it and it has a 2 cyl gas engine. Any ideas on the model #and HP? Where would the serial # be on this machine? Thanks, Kirk

MC serial number would be right under the switch on the "dash".

40, 420, 430, should be a tag on the side of the bellhousing / center tube area on the left side.

Not sure about the 440, I think that one is on dash?

check out jdcrawlers.com the serial numbers are listed there along with the years
