My 310G acts like it something is binding in the drive or track system and releasing causing the tracks to jump. Both tracks are jumping, but I am not sure it is at the same time. Hard to watch both tracks at the same time. Tracks were rebuilt last summer and everythng seemed fine at the time, but I haven't used it much since that time. It happens in all forward gears and is intermittent. First time it happened I was able to drive several hundred yards before it happened again. Seems to be OK in Reverse. Any suggestions on where to start looking/ Thanks for any help

Are the rear sprockets worn? Are the tracks adjusted up tight enough? Does this happen on the flat while going straight forward? If it is on uneven ground, is this situation more likely to occur? I found that after replacing pins and bushings, the tracks needed frequent adjustment other wise I got the same sounds which was the track/s trying to jump off until the parts wore in. Also, make sure the front idler is true to the direction of travel. If it is canted left or right, it will cause the track to try to jump the front idler. There are shims on your machine that can be either added or removed to adjust this. My 310 seems to have gotten beyond all that... I haven't had that problem for several years now. Cal

Thanks Cal - I appreciate your time. I was using the crawler to make firewood (I have a wood splitter mounted on it) and had to run it in the shop for a day to melt the snow and ice to see what the problem may be. It was OK in the woods and started binding as I was crossing a hay field. I didn't check the front idler alignment when I mounted the new track (I am new to crawlers and learning fast) and checked that first and found a problem. The Idler on the right side tracks about 1/2" off center when compared to the rear drive sprocket. The track is riding hard on the inside of the drive sprocket. It has been this way since I purchased it but I guess the old track was loose enough that it worked. I checked the spacing from the inside of the drive sprocket to the frame and the right side is about 1/2" closer to the frame. There are no numbers on the drive sprocket, but I assume it is not the correct one for a 310G. The drive sproket on the other side is new and tracks well with the front idler. Looks like I will be buying a new drive unless someone else has a good idea. THANKS for all the help

If you can't shim the track rail or unshim it maybe someone changed the final with an early model and the wrong spacer is in the final between bearing and sprocket. There are two different ones.

Sounds like to me that the pins and bushings on the tracks are worn down and not allowing them to ride properly on the drive sprocket..... which causes the jumping and popping from the rear of the dozer.
