I am looking into the small Deere 110 loader/back hoe.. I have many yrs operating tractors and have crawlers, a compact excavator, skidsteer, and a full size Deere 310D hoe. I have a need for a small tractor like this and it seems pratical for me. One big advantage is the attachments will work from the skidsteer, forks, grapple etc.. Aside from the price of these, any opinions (good & bad) on them? Thanks in advance. -Mark

On the 110 the seat flips over so you can use the hoe. The 110 does have that neat feature though so that you can actually slowly drive the tractor while in the seat to operate the hoe. So if your digging a ditch you just raise the outriggers and bucket push the little lever and forward(or back) you go. Only experience on a 110 was a 10 hour day on one this past summer but it worked great. If i could afford one i'd go for it. JD packed quite a bit of punch into that little tractor.

The JD and Kubotas ( maybe not the largest Kubota ? ) you have to get out of the seat and crawl around to work the hoe. JCB,Yanmar,Bobcat I think all offer something in that size that has a swivel seat.

Sounds like you are pretty much a jd man already, but you might want to look at the KUBOTA
unit.. faster loader cycel times. more confortabe
(Larger flat floorboard for your feet) Real nice unit and probably priced a litte better depending on your dealer.

While I do not own one, I have a friend who works one (bought new) and have spent some time mself working with it. I think it is great machine, and it really shines if you can utilize the 3pt as well. They are pricey and do seem to hold their value. As my buddy mentioned, if it had not been for the 3pt, he would of gone with a used Bobcat / excavator, mostly due to speed. I have not heard of any serious issues from him with about 1600 hours on it and he is the first to complain.

I think for a small / hobby farm or land owner it cannot be beat. Plus it can be towed by 1 tons.

The ones we've sold have been problem free for the most part. Aside from the units that are in a rental fleet, then its usually just abuse that causes issues. The early version had a weak tie rod assembly, but once its bent once or broken, the replacement is beefed up. It may have a 3 pt hitch set-up tucked under the backhoe also. Its an option I believe.
