Well I'm getting ready to fight with that yeller dog again the last time I messed with her I was having problems with the sprocket hiting the roller well. I got past that, but the next problem is the outer support that bolts to the roller frame. I call it a trunyon, it has that 8.1/8 bushing in it. Well I thought I had it licked made some new pins. But when I went to put it together none of the holes line up, I guess thats why he had welded it all on there. What I need to know now, is were to measure to get it all lined up, so that I can make new holes. One of these Days @##@!!! Thank for the help Mike

Mike is that the tractor I saw last week located at his house on 183? You might check with the Watsons, they have been running the older D6s for decades and know them top to bottom. I was at their yard last week and they have lots of old undercarriage parts.

Mike I haven't been following your posts but I take it you mean the rear roller was not alligned with the center of the sprocket. There is a plate on the end of the deadshaft that you shim in or out to adjust the alignment. The only limitation is how far the wishbone/diagonal brace bearing will let you move. If you have the diagonal brace bearing on and the frame alligns try shimming the plate. If the frame was welded on not bolted the frame or dead shaft may be bent, If the sprocket hit the inside of roller the sprocket may be pressed on too far due to worn hub splines or sprocket rerimed incorrectly.

Man, your going from bad to worse.
It's the diagonal brace journal that needs tweaking not the outer bearing mount (your trunnion). Never heard of re-drilling the track frame to make things fit. If you have to the bearing mount is your drill guide but with both the brace journal out of whack and the bearing mount loose you are floating with no point of reference. The only way I know to get it all aligned is back to what I originally described using a length of pipe to duplicate the dead axles and with both track frames level and parallel, adjust the diagonal journal to fit the dimensions of the case.

Pete, we used to have welders that could straighten a frame and square up a diagonal brace but it might be a challenge to find any that could now. Then there is the proper deadshaft length. Need to strip final drive to measure that and check shaft for straight. 9U might be armed so maybe I should run for cover about now.

Hi Bob,
Your right, be hard pressed to find someone to re-align one of them old D6's. It's a bit of a job.
Been through that one a couple of times but a least I had a good tractor to get measurements from. I think this 44a went through the war....and lost.

Its still at his house he has a pole truck, in the begining it was just pins and bushing he told me I could fix it there HA Ha. Well on doing what you told me, about the pipe, I had the opportunity to use him and his pole truck to put the roller frames under the tracktor so I went for it, looks like I might have to take her back apart. Your advise is not falling on deaf ears

First, Bob the big problem is that the sprocket is hanging out too far 1/2 inch. The inner bearing is hitting on the housing already, it was running like this for a long time, I'm out of money and time to fix this right, so I cut the roller to give clearance, he had ground off the sprocket teeth before. The outer support bolt holes are ok side to side "from the sprocket out" They are too close together thought, it has been its been FIXED a few times.. I can get this, It's just getting it alined close I need some locations to measure from. It's raining and cold so I'm just thinking on it now. I thank ya'll and any advise, I'm doing the best with what I got. I've come a long way,, dang roller frame I went into this thinking it just needed pins and bushing you know, just because someone wears a hat don't mean there a good old boy Ha $#@ HA

9U, it sounds like someone has really done a number on that tractor. I think it's been working in rock and the track frames broken up and welded back together any old way. It will be hard to get much life out of your undercarrage the way it is now. To get it working right you need to jack it up and take everything off including the final drives. Check deadshafts are straight and the right length. Then check the final drive hubs and sprockets are the right ones. That will get your sprockets on gauge. Then get the frames and diagonal brace checked so frames are level and square to tractor. At that point the sprockets and rollers will be able to be alligned and you can get normal undercarrage life out of it.
