3500 Ford Hyd. Pump?

I have a 3500 Ford with a loader and backhoe. The hyd. pump is wore out, and I am in need of a new or rebuilt. The local dealer wants $700 for one, and that seemed like a lot to me. Any sugestions on where I could look for one? I don't know if mine is rebuildable or not. It really howls loud, and will barely lift the loader or the hoe, and it is very slow while doing it.

I replaced the filter and put in all new fluid, and it actually seemed to make it worse. It seems like when the pump is cool and then again when hot, it's at it's worst. There is about a 15 minute window when it is just warm, that it actually works ok, but never does it work good.

Mnut, have you considered testing the pump pressure w/a gauge before you R&R the hyd. pump?....sl

I had one that did that & it was the filter. To get to the filter remove the four bolts at the bottom of the support that holds lift arms on the left side of the machine. Also make sure that your suction line is not restricted. Hope this helps.
