Scat track is not built by Thomas. Thomas made some machines for Ford that used different engines. Deere were originally based on New Holland designs and JD had an arrangement with New Holland. The new Case machines look very similar to the Fermec machines, which Case owns. They were originally badged as MF machines. There are a lot of manufacturers of Skid steers. In the 70's I think there were more machines made by a single manufacturer with different names on them. Is there a particular machine you're curious about? Dave

I've always thought that the Deere and New Holland Loaders were the same. Dont know which owns the design. I do know thats why Case and New Holland Don't share the common design on the loaders since they merged. There is also Thomas and I think Scattrak(?) Loaders. Volvo ASV Komatsu and JCB make them too.

Well I have noticed that the GEHL and Mustang skids look alot alike - and that some Gehl/new holland seem to be the same./

I know that the Late model Gehl's/Mustangs are the same - take a look easy to see.

Who built who? Originally John Deere bought from Owatonna, then New Holland before they started building there own.

The first Gehl model (3030)was built by Erickson. The 2500 was built by HydraMac.

The first Ford skid steer was built by Erickson - same model as the Gehl 3030.

Just a quick history lesson.
