I bought one of these little machines - a deal too good to pass up. However I have never run one. Is there some place where I can read about the (safe) operation of a tracked excavator? Thanks for any pointers. BTW I intend to use this on my farm to dig trenches, stack trees for burining and build water feature on an existing bank to keep my bettter half happy.

Thanks for the suggestions and reminder to watchout for buried utilites. Good news on the latter front is that all that is buried on my 20 acrea are things I planted myself. No gas although they are trying to get permission to put a gas transmission pipeline about a half mile to the west. Fiber optics story is both funny and sad. A few years ago they buried a trans-pacific set of fibers about 0.5 miles south of my place . However with all that capacity so close, the best internet service we can get is a 256k wireless link that packs up in heavy rains or snow storms. Oh well, so close yet so far.

Just want to remind you that you should call before you dig anywhere. Fiber optics are expensive and gas lines are dangerous. In addition, you will have buried utilities in most house yards, from phone to gas.

Good luck with your digging, it is a blast once you get enough practice and don't have to stop and think which lever does what.

Bobcat has operator videos for skid steers and I suspect they have them for their excavators as well. The Komatsu is probably a better machine though but operation is similar. Dave
