Just found this forum. I have a JD 350 dozer and after several hours browsing this forum I"ve learned a lot. My 350 tranny has 4 forward and I think one reverse gear, also has hyrdraulic reverser. My shift lever is very sloppy and hard to find each gear. I have a shop manual so I"ve read about how to take it apart. I"m just wondering if anyone knows what might be the cause of this and if it is fixable without spending many $$$. I"d like to know what I"m getting into before taking it apart.

I had a 355D which is the newer model but the same. I couldn't shift into 3rd very easy because there was a problem with the detent ball, or whatever it's called that stops the tractor from coming out of gear. The top of the shifter had to come off and it can be checked out on the bench. There should be used parts around if you need them. The JD experts should be along soon to help you. Dave
