I am looking at a JD 400G locally that is in good condition, has new pins and bushings, rollers and spockets. Hour meter reads 900 hrs, but probably not original hrs. Any thoughts on problems on these machines would be appriciated. To me it looks like a cross between a 350C size with a 450C transmission, and must have more power with 239 4 cylinder engine.

I remember when they came out..I was working at Mahnen Machinery then..I was a little leary about running more serious power thru 350 final drives..I don't think we sold any..We had one but I think it went to dealer trade..
