The way the track motors are supposed to work is in high range the flow is diverted to 1 section of the track motors..In low speed the track motors get flow in both sections at the same time..this gives it more power in low,,

There are two magnetic solonoid valves on a flow valve just to the left of the seat outside the cab and close to the hyd. swing motor. Can you tell me what these solonoids control.I do not have any test or service manual's for this machine.Again thank you for your time in this matter it is greatly appreciated.

Oh , you gotta late B...Pilot system is a low pressure hydraulic system that actuates the high pressure hydraulic valves...How does it dig ?? Fast enough ?? enough power ?? If it's a little lazy , I'd check main pressures first {easiest test there is]..On the boom lift cylinders there are steel tubes..On those steel tubes , you'll find large JIC caps..If you are able to get jic test caps so you can install a guage to one Tee, 3000 psi guage will do..I generally put the test caps on the Tee that is for boom raise..Run the machine for a couple of minutes to warm up the oil..Then raise the hoe boom slowly so it tops out in the cylinder..With the throttle full open, slowly put up pressure on the cylinder..This reading will show the lowest pressure setting of circuit relief valves..Don't horse it too rough...I've seen the rod guide blow out of the cylinder barrel due to wimpy threads there..Machines that are lifted [ down pressured] a lot have a tendency to blow them out..

Thank you very much for your time,I checked the pressure at the control valve,it was approx. 1800 psi.I was told that the main control valve would not open all way unless the pilot valve has at least 500 psi.I will check the boom pressure as you suggested and let you know again I really appreciate your time.steve931

I'v spent many hrs. on 690's trackhoes, if this is what you have ,it will turn better in low speed, there is a knob on the control panel w/ a turtle/rabbit for speed.

This machine has electrical problems.Their are two magnetic solonoids on a flow valve right beside cab.I am not sure but I believe they control the low and high range.Iknow this machine will not turn in high range. If you know what the two magnetic solonoids control please let me know.Thank you very much for your time.
