I have aquired this machine and can't find any information or manuals for repair etc... I am at a loss and don't know where else to turn for help. I am hopeful someone out here knows a piece of my puzzle. Many thanks

Don

Perhaps if you bought a tractor that was built by Cat it might work better.

I realized after reading jojon's comments that the units designed for ski area use were given the designation 'Packmaster'. I don't know how much commonality there may be between the Trackmaster and Packmaster machines but I am certain that there there must be a number of Packmasters still in use in ski country and that the dealers for ski area grooming equipment would be a good source for tracking down information.

Thanks Don your information was very helpful. I had found that Thiokol Chemical Corp appeared to be original makers of this type of machine then it was aquired by LMC then last company was DMC (Delorean Motor Company).

Overall Machine runs great, but have already replaced hoses and rebuilt a few valves. Had problem overheating hydro fluid, but have since found Aux valve was stuck open and caused system to fight itself. Had Hydro filter sensor light come on when machine idle was raised. I have replaced filters and flushed fluids but it still happens. A manual would be so helpful in trouble shooting this stuff. I also have the bucket pins which are augered out.

Thanks again Don for your info, these are great machines but very few are still in operation.

Jonjon,

Yes that info is right on the money and what I found from forestry equip report. I didn't know there was an option for a 3pt hitch though. This machine has three pumps one for Trans, one for high flow and one for low flow.

I have found replacement tracks for this machine. But can't find a parts list or repair/service books to make repairs or trouble shoot issues. Most of the stuff looks like everyday stuff. I have no idea how to adjust the tracks but have found they should have no more than 4" to 6" of slack in them. I have no idea how to replace the tracks. other than that the machine is great. Has Kubota T3300 engine and runs great even though hard start when cold weather hits.

Thank you very much for your help Jonjon

This is a name that is very familiar to me. I am a downhill skier and I have also had some involvement with design, construction and operation of ski resorts. The LMC built by Logan Manufacturing Corporation took over the manufacture of low ground pressure tracked vehicles from Thicol (sp?) Chemical Corporation. Thicol developed a low ground pressure tracked vehicle because they couldn't find anything suitable for exploration work in swampy areas and during the winter. The ski industry found that these machines worked well for grooming ski runs and started buying them and making modifications to them for their requirements. Some others such as Nodwell, Formost and Bombardier in Canada also got into supplying machines for the ski industry. Thicol's machine grew popular enough that a separate branch, Logan manufacturing Corp. took over fabrication. I have some Ski Area Management magazines from 1997 that still show adds for the LMC machines. I don't know when they stopped production. The early machines used a planetary differential for steering similar to Cletrac crawlers. Some time in the late 80's all snow grooming machines converted to hydraulic driven tracks. I don't remember if the Trackmaster was hydrostatic or planetary steering. There should still be parts available and lots of information available.

Here is what I think but someone on here probably knows more for sure. LMC built this machine it was used by the forestry service some as I recall it is a lgp 2 psi with the bucket and I think the 85's were 88.5 horsepower. LMC is maybe land management corporation. Only seen a couple but seen a few request for parts help with no luck. good luck. also seen one sell on epay in Alabama I think.

Yeah I have seen all the sales since 2005. I saw company had probs and changed names from some Chemical Co, then LMC, then DMC (Delorian) then ???? Ive tried making contact w/ Forestry but got run around. Most parts seem interchangable w/ major brands but need service/repair books to help w/ identifying parts etc. Thanks for the info Jonjon.
