I bought a baker forklift and I can't find any model number on it,too many coats of paint or grund off.Not sure where to look either. I would like to know what year it is and specs, is a manual available somewhere? It has dual hard rubber tires in front
I have picked up 5000 pound easily. It has a F244 continental propane motor, number 20763. Any info would be appreciated.

You truck would have a F245 in it not 244, these are bored out 227s with a thin cylinder wall.
Easy and cheap to rebuild. When in top shape it has lots of power but is a gas hog. The metal tag should have been on the exterior of the rear side body. About 4-5 inches square.I know of no place else there is an I.D.
The models are usually designated by F*40-50-60, the number being how much it lifts at 24 inches. As a FJ60 lifting 6000 lb.s the letters are usually the wheel and tire arrangements.
Send me a couple GOOD photos and I can likely help you out. Manuals are almost impossible to get.
Otis elevator owned Baker and when they sold it they seem to have generally switched to electric, I forgot the name of who owns it now, but they don't support the old Bakers, it's an orphan.
If the trans is still good it's likely worth fixing up as they are tough old machines with a tight turn radius. Brakes on thm are generally crappy and if you can rebuild the cylinders the drums have to be turned out and the shoes will need really thick linings or they will not stop.
Good luck.
