I'd like to find info on what it takes to swap different make backhoes with different machines.

Anybody out there done it and have the mounting specs?

I've been coming across a lot of hoes lately - take-offs - but often don't have the mouning specs.

Here are few I have:

Allis Chalmers Mark IV or V - probably a Henry hoe - has a four pin mount for crawler or wheel tractor - hitch mount measures - with 1 1/2” pins -
20” top to bottom, center to center. Width is 21” center to center with a 1” slot.

Case 580CK wheel TLB - Case Model 33 hoe on rear has a four-pin mounting - approx 27.5” wide - center-to-center
on the bottom, 28.5” inch wide on top, and approx. 19” top to bottom, center-to-center.

John Deere toolbar/backhoe mount for 1010 and 350 crawlers - Rear toolbar hitch: measures 17
1/8” center to center from top to bottom of 1” pins. Width is 27” center to center with a 1” slot.

I've seen quite a few hoes in the ads here and elsewhere, some were quite reasonable, some a bit too big, others looked much more suitable, hard to figure what is what on them without seeing them up close. I've been curious as my 850 ford has a 4 pt mount on it, smaller unit for light work would be a very handy thing to have. Some of the ones I've seen look like they would wag the dog by the tail too much, and what ever was on this 850 before certainly did some damage, mostly likely some knob of an operator being too hard on it. Seems like for light work even this bucket of bolts would handle a smaller one with a pto pump. There was a farmall 300 utility tractor in nice shape awhile back, maybe a year, like mid 60's later style not a round nose, with a IH hoe on it, looked like a perfect match for the tractor, size was just right, too far, it sold quick, some are just too big I think.

supposed to be a ford mount, factory built saw it here in the ads

Fabricated 4 pt on mine, and like I mentioned often wondered what would fit on it.

Those mounts look similar to the ones on my Ford 4000 Industrial.

My asking for specs started with a Case 580CK I have. I bought it as a wreck, and basically rebuilt the entire tractor - but haven't done the hoe yet. The hoe on the 580CK is a Case #33. It is really hammered badly, and I got thinking it would save a lot of work if I could just find a hoe attachment in better condition and stick it on. I don't want a big project, however.

I also have a Deere 1010 crawler loader that already has the Deere tool-bar on the back that's made for a hoe. Presently it has a rear-ripper on it. I found a hoe this summer that supposedly came off a 1010 or 350 crawler, and I bought it for $1000 with the mounts. Got it home, and it doesn't fit. Why? Well, I found out later it's an Allis Chalmers Mark IV hoe, and the guy made special mounts on his Deere to make it fit. It looks like a Deere mount, but the pin spacing is different.

So for now, I'd like to find a hoe for my 1010 Deere crawler and my Case 580CK if they fit without a lot of mods and don't cost a fortune.

Not very convenient location for you, but I have a customer who wanted to sell the 33 hoe off his CK. The hoe is actually the best part of the tractor, but he bought a newer extend-a-hoe.

Last I asked, he was thinking to keep the CK without hoe. They aren't very well balanced with the hoe. Construction's finished and he has little use for a hoe. A tractor, about anybody can use.

Pretty sure you can hang nearly any hoe if you made the mount. I put a small Ford hoe with undermount arms on a Mitsubishi. Works very well.

I've come across several 33 hoes, but the closest was 400 miles away and it wasn't worth the expense or time involved to truck it. It sold for $750 on Ebay - but the guy wanted $1800 to truck it 500 miles. Last year, one went at local auction for $500, and I'm still kicking myself because I didn't go. But, who knows how much higher it might of went if I had bid on it.

I'm sure I could make just about anything fit, with a welder and a torch. But, I'd prefer something with minimal work, or even better - a Case hoe that will go right on. That's why I'm asking for specs. This way, if I see some off-brand for sale nearby, I'll have some idea on how much work will be involved.

I'm in central New York state, and it seems every time I want something specific, it's on the other side of the country.

Well, now you know you need to jump at whatever local opportunity you have. I learned a long time ago to do that, even if the timing wasn't very good for me. That's why we have out-buildings.

Spoke with the CK owner yesterday. He's got somebody lined up to pay $5k for the whole thing.

I've seen a few sawmills I'd like to buy- if they weren't in Utah or Oregon or....

I've been doing just that for over thirty years - that's why I've got over a 100 old tractors and trucks sitting in my field. I tend to buy any bargain when I come across it, but they don't come up as often as they used to.

I had a 1960 Ford 4000 Industrial with a Case hoe on it. I didn't do the conversion, but it looked professional and tight like it was meant to fit.

I've got both - but my Ford 4000 Industrial with 713/714 hoe and loader is parked at my Adirondack property 120 miles from here - and I've never measured it. That why I'm hoping someone will post some specs and measurements.

Not this 4000. A friend of mine bought it new in 1964, in Oneonta, New York (Otsego County). When he sold his dairy farm in 1985, I bought and used at my farm also in Otsego County. Then I bought some land in Indian Lake, Hamilton County - and brought the Ford hoe up there and left it. This way I can get some work done whenver I go up.

I'm tring to get another hoe to leave up in Northen Michigan where I've also got some land. I looked for a cheaper/older hoe up there, but have just about given up. So, I may get one here and pay the extra cost of moving it to Michigan.
