Hello,
My old 530 (not CK) hoe has a one piece control valve. I could say the old girl works like new except boom drifts down & swing can drift. I"m 99% sure the by-passing is actual wear in the spools & casting. Its useable but not right. I"ve watched for years for a NOS control valve. I"ll guess a stackable control valve would be easier to find. When I think about converting to some other valve: Secondary relief setting for all the different cylinders. It makes my brain hurt. I"ve had a "want it now" listing in ebay forever. Reads like this: I"ve restored a 1961 Case 530 Loader & hoe. Hoe model#31. The hoe drifts down. I"d like to find a new old stock control valve. The numbers I have are D26885, D25852, D25856. This is a one piece casting. If you have any new control valves for Case let me know, possibly I can update my machine. Thanks, Big-Hoov. Ideas? Best wishes & God Bless America, Dennis.....

Are you sure it's not the cylinder seals? That's why most hydraulics creep. You can also get lock valves to prevent the cylinders from creeping. Cranes use them as well as excavators I think. A lot easier to install than replacing the whole control valve and a lot cheaper too. Dave

Dave sir,
The cylinders are rebuilt. When I had the boom cylinder apart it looked good but I rebuilt it anyway. I suspect somebody had already rebuilt it for the same reason. The lock valves? I thought about ball valves. Are the lock valves a automatic lock or manual(like a ball valve)?
Best, Dennis..... .

They are automatic. They aren't very big either. A good hydraulic shop would have them. I looked at making a hydraulic top link for my 3 pt. hitch. You can buy them but they use the lock valve so the cylinder doesn't move in or out when a load is applied to it. It only moves when you apply oil to it from the control valve. Some backhoe stabilizers use them as well. Dave

Dave,
You got me thinking. I"ll check with the local shop. I"m thinking they would have a release presure setting. On the hoe you would want it to open before the secondary relief setting or you would bend a cylinder rod? That"s it I think. Free flow in one direction but a set release pressure in reverse flow like a secondary relief valve. I should mention the last time I played with this. I was educated on how the secondary relief could also be the drifting problem. They are no longer available so I switched them around in the spools. That had no effect on the problem. Either both the secondary reliefs I was swapping are good or both are bad. Thanks for the input. I"ll tackle this again someday.
Best wishes, Dennis..... ..
