Engine starts and runs but when key is in on position it labors and bucket will not move. switch key to off and it speeds up as if pressure
from pump is relieved.

The key may be wired up to a hydraulic solenoid. You should trace wires and find out. It sounds like there is an extra hydraulic load on when the key is on.

If the filter is getting hot, it may be plugged.

Thanks for your help =. I found a switch on side of tractor that it looks like someone added on.
I'have had this tractor for 8 years and never noticed it. Grandkids playing in tractor must have switched it. Every thing now works as it should. I still do not know what what it does but I plan to trace wires to find out.

Tractor is a 1979 or 80 and doed not have a hammer attachment. It is two wheel drive with the automatic trans. Machine drives OK, bucket moves slowly if motor is reved up. Oil filter on right side of tractor from hyd. pump seems to get very hot.
