I am looking for info on how to remove the extendable stick on a 580 K backhoe...the hoses inside are leakings pretty bad and need to replace them...i have done CATs, but this case is quite different. Just a farm machine...but can run with oil leaking. any ideas are appreciated.

Lay it over a big bucket, and pin it up against something solid. Maybe under the bumper of service truck. So it's sitting at an angle.

There is a pin running through it that holds it to the end of the rod inside.

Remove clip and pin at then slide it off, (drive away)lift boom as you drive away.

As I recall the section slides off leaving the cylinder in the section still attached to tractor. Then remove other pin to release cylinder.

Slide that out while you help the hoses through the knuckle.

It's got to be one of the greasiest black slimey mess jobs going.

The fitting or metal tube that runs along the cyl is usually the culprit after the plastic tube support and hose clamp has broken and fallen away. The tube or fitting will crack.

There are plastic buttons that will fall off when it comes apart but just put those back in place as it goes back together.

When going back together fish a long wire taped to a rope followed by the hoses through knuckle. as you slide the cyl into place.
