I've got a 310C with the mechanical front axle and those double u-joints in between the king pins have some slop in them. I looked on the JD parts site and those U-joints are $280 each, and it takes 4 to do the whole thing. That is a ZF axle, do any of you guys know a cheaper way to get parts for those?

If you find any that have the same diameter, make sure they are offset also. The two opposing caps are on one plane and the opposite two are on another plane... they have to be installed so as to make the double joint in its "longer" configuration. That is,at the wider seperation... the 2 joints will bind together and break in a turn if they are assembled with the spacing reversed. If you look at them closely it should make sense. look at yours first though.. I believe most are like that on those front axles.

Get one out intact and take it to your local bearing supplier who should be able to fix you up with a set of replacements.

Have you gone this route before? Do you remember approximately what they cost?

Thx.

ZF is a German company that builds drive line components.
