I saw an ad for a 1989 Bobcat 371. It has 400 hours on the clock and a "newer" (owner's words) 16hp gas engine. The owner describes the machine's condition as "very strong." He's asking $4200, which seems high to me. But if the unit is in excellent condition, could this be a good price after all?

Thanks for any comments!

The price might be OK but that is a small machine and is mostly only used in very tight spaces. For cleaning a dairy barn it would work excellent. For doing any heavier work, a bigger machine about 5 ft. wide would work way better and do more than twice the work. Those small machines are a lot more bouncy than the bigger ones and require more careful operation as well. An air cooled gas engine won't have a real long life. Unless you really need a super narrow machine, I'd look for for a used 700 series Bobcat or similar other make. Way more machine. Dave

I went through this a couple years ago building a new home. I looked at all seizes and decided on a 742B as it was gas engine and living here in the cold weather would be easier to get started in the winter time. a used machine usually needs tires and for me that was $500.
Pallet forks are also nice but another $500.
