I had my transmissions pressure checked today. The right one initially maxed out at 3400 pounds with warm oil and the left one at 5500. The tech determined that the right one was bad. He then shimmed both of them and got the right one to 5100 pounds and the left one to 6300. Specs are 6500 or so, I think. Would you determine that the right one needs rebuilt but that maybe there is still some decent life left in the other one? Is it a bad idea to just do one of them now and wait several hundred hours on the next one in order to spread out repair costs?

The engine stall is right at specs, pulling down to 1600 RPMs at max transmission load.

Like I stated before...Change out the filters..Cut them apart to see what"s in the pleated paper..Metal and brass is a sign things are starting to "unravel" in there..Each transmission has it"s own return filter..On an older machine that probably doesn"t get used everyday, I would run it and see what happens..I"m sure that having a difference in pressures , it will not track correctly meaning constant corrections to track straight..Final drive gears are known to be a real wear point on the hydrostatic machines..The surface of the gear contact surfaces will flake as they wear..
