My mechanic suggested i used old undercarriage chains as a scraper for the driveway and road and stuff. Not a bad idea. I used some chains to hook it on the fourhweeler and it pulls good and works well. I would like it to work better.
When the rig is pulled links kinda roll over on top of the chains. I'd like to keep this rig in the position its sitting now. I used 3/4" round bar bolted to the chains at the two widest points to keep rig spread. It kind of works. What would be the best way to keep this lil drag in the position its in now when i'm dradding it?

Slide a piece of pipe about 2 to 3 foot long through the holes in you links about 2 foot from each end and weld it in place then attach your chain to the other end of the pipe. this should keep your chain from trying to roll as you pull it. You may have to bend the pipe or weld some skids to it to keep it from digging in to the dirt. Looks like it would work well for leveling a yard as well.

Instead of connecting the chain to both ends from the center add a straight section of pipe as a spreader bar with short chains pulling the ends more-or-less straight ahead. This will keep it spread but allow it to flex to the extent the length of the end chains allow. I doubt it is worth the price of a patent, as not everybody has access to used rails and few would buy them for a price you would need to recoup costs.

Rails have been used for drags for a long time. If a person checked, it wouldn't be hard or expensive to find worn out rails. Dave

Weld the links solid in the shape you want. You could leave a few in the middle loose so you could flip one side on top of the other to save space or for a narrower, heavier drag. My rails will probably do a complete circle when the pads come off. Really snaky. Dave
