I saw an ad for an Allis HD-6G "engine runs great - needs clutch". I called the guy and asked how bad the clutch is. He said the crawler won't move at all.It was his dad's farm crawler, who passed on.I don't think he knows anything about it. Is there any way I can be sure it's the clutch? What about the rest of the drive? Any advice would help.

Thanks for all the help.I'm going to look at it tomorrow.Called a large ag. and consrtuction salvage and aftermarket parts place I've dealt with for farm tractors, told me it's too old - clutchs no longer available??Called 2 others they recomended in Ilinois - same story.Anybody have an idea? Wanted a rough idea of the cost. Also, how big of a job to pull engine clutch? No exp.with crawlers though I've split my 63 hp. Massey tractor for clutch and other repairs. Is it the same deal for crawlers? Thanks

You can pull the floorboards on these and watch the driveshaft. They are all open shaft. There is a small inspection cover in there too. They can have wet or dry clutches, depending on the year. Used parts are avialable off the advertizers on this forum. Kind of tough job for a big fellow , not a lot of room to work. I have taken the battery box off for a little more room to work.

Havn't had anything to do with Allis Crawlers,
but if the engine runs OK start it, put tractor into gear engage clutch & watch the drive shaft,if drive shaft is enclosed try removing the clutch adjustment cover , you should then be able to get an idea whats going on. If the drive shaft is spinning with the clutch engaged and in
gear and the tractor is not moving something is
wrong further along the drive train.
