I don't know about a Gehl, but in the book for my OLD Bobcat 722, it tells you that to tow the loader, you are supposed to remove the side covers and unhook the drive chains. If i need to move it when its dead, I just go for the loader tractor to give it a lift into the shop.

I use my fork lift or a bigger skid loader.

I was able to winch mine on last week by having my daughter sit on the machine and hold the controls in the forward position.
It let the motors spool and move fairly easy.
