I have recently picked up a Case 310G with what I believe is a 159 gas engine. I went to buy a head gasket at the case dealer and their computer only showed a 148 gas engine. No 159...Anybody know anything about the 159 engine? Are the head gaskets the same?

Thanks
SEMO

No offence here but some people when they are not sure should restrain from giving bad information to honest poeple on this site the head gasket for a 148 engine and a 159 engine is not the same at all. the 148 engine use gasket Case part number G10672 and the 159 engine use head gasket part number G46870. Hope to clear this before a mistake happen. jc.

I stand corrected. but I was half correct. a 148 with a 2.250 main built from 1955 to 1960 has the same head gasket as a 159 a 148B with 2.264 main built from 1961 to 1970 is not the same gasket. a 310g crawler should have a 148B engine. a 310 and 310c has a straight 148. I am sorry for the bad information I have to stop writing in these forums in the middle of the night.

Hello,
I am showing a 310g crawler as having a 148 as well. They used the 159 in some skid loaders and 530ck and 580ck. to answer your question yes they are the same head gasket.
Good Luck Ed
