Case 450 idling problem

Two years ago I purchased my first piece of heavy equipment,a 1973 Case 450 trackloader. That following year my mechanically-inclined friend helped me replace and/or repair:brakes, chains, sprockets, alternator, complete service, etc.Since then,I"ve relocated the loader to my cabin in another state. The loader starts easily and idles properly. My problem is this:after the machine has warmed up,it wants to idle high, making shifting hard on the little tractor.I can quickly tap the accelerator pedal and knock down the rpms but the idle will go right back up again once I"m moving.Any helpful suggestions to look for would be appreciated.Thanks.

your return spring under the floor is broke if you pull back on the peddle dose it idle down? or go up by the injector pump and see if you use your hand to move the linkage if it idles down. the linkage is just some rods and some springs to pull it back real easy to check out

Hello Marlowe,
I don't necessarily have to "pull up" on the accelerator pedal but instead I have to give the pedal a quick tap with my foot to reduce the high idle.I'll check out the return spring and the entire linkage starting from the injector pump at your suggestion. Thanks.
