I agree with Jfoshee that the shuttle interlock timer relay needs replacing, they upgraded that relay and it has a new part number 347706A1 Relay.

I used to run into something similar to this when I worked for Case. On the right side above the rear wheel is the fuse panel. Remove the cover. There will be several bosch relay's in there, but one is longer than the rest. Sorry, I don't recall it's exact position, but I'm pretty sure there is only one long one. When this relay would go bad it would not let the machine travel. All hydraulics and steering worked fine, but no movement from the transmission. I never had one to stop working then start again, but I couldn't rule it out either. I don't know how to check the relay and I'm pretty sure your Case dealer dosen't either, check the price of a new one, it might be worth a try to replace it.

Does your machine have the switch that deactivates the transmission? My 480D has two. One on the loader bucket leaver and one below and between the brake pedals. If you do, I would suggest you disconnect one or both the selenoid wires on the side of the transmission. If this is the problem suspect an electrical problem. Of course the selenoid could be bad.
