International TD 14 - is it worth $3000

I found an International TD 14 from the 1950's that is for sale for $3000. It starts and runs good, but the brakes and clutch are tired. Has a 10 foot 6 way blade, and can push dirt well. It has ROPS.

I have an old D4 with a straight blade that can't do the work I need. Just looking for something to cut a few roads and clear some land then sell. You think it is worth the price?

It's a 1957 from the serial number. It runs real good with no smoke and just finished digging out a large section of rocky hillside, so it has good power. It does leak tranny fluid and gear oil when running and the gas part of the gas/deisel engine does not work (starts straight with the diesel). Thing is, I have not seen many cheap 'ol beaters like this around here. I just want something to use now and then when I get time to work on the property (no real heavy work expected).

Does location change the value? This is located in the sierra foothills area of California.

thanks

The one I passed up had the same problem. Only ran in diesel mode and it was usually pulled to get started. Ran good once going. I found out someone finally bought it for $1200. Had a dozer and a winch on it.

In regard to prices varying by region. I don't know. I've often see crawlers I really want that are cheap - but they are out in California, Oregon, etc. - and I'm here in the Northeast. I think for any machine, the asking prices can vary a lot in any area. If I was going to buy a bigger old crawler, I'd stick with something easier ot get parts for - unless it's a really good deal. Get an AC HD5 or HD7 with a Detroit, and parts are easy to find. I've been looking for any older crawler up in northern Michigan. It's a 1000 miles from my home, and I don't want to truck anything up there. Seems they harder to find there and subsequently, cost more. But - I've been seeing ads like the following in Northern Michigan classifieds:

BEST OFFER, PLEASE: $3000 Selling as a pair: HD 7 ALLIS CHALMERS CRAWLERS
(dozers), about 1946. Will start/move. As-is-where-is. Would like to sell the two as a pair; one
can be for parts to use in the other (it starts). PRICE INCLUDES BOTH.

It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. But, $3000 sounds pretty high to me unless in pretty good shape. I just passed one up that ran and pushed dirt with an asking price of $1800.
