The one I passed up had the same problem. Only ran in diesel mode and it was usually pulled to get started. Ran good once going. I found out someone finally bought it for $1200. Had a dozer and a winch on it. In regard to prices varying by region. I don't know. I've often see crawlers I really want that are cheap - but they are out in California, Oregon, etc. - and I'm here in the Northeast. I think for any machine, the asking prices can vary a lot in any area. If I was going to buy a bigger old crawler, I'd stick with something easier ot get parts for - unless it's a really good deal. Get an AC HD5 or HD7 with a Detroit, and parts are easy to find. I've been looking for any older crawler up in northern Michigan. It's a 1000 miles from my home, and I don't want to truck anything up there. Seems they harder to find there and subsequently, cost more. But - I've been seeing ads like the following in Northern Michigan classifieds: BEST OFFER, PLEASE: $3000 Selling as a pair: HD 7 ALLIS CHALMERS CRAWLERS (dozers), about 1946. Will start/move. As-is-where-is. Would like to sell the two as a pair; one can be for parts to use in the other (it starts). PRICE INCLUDES BOTH.
