I'm about to do the 1000 hour service which includes changing the chaincase oil on my 463. The chaincase "drain plug" is used to check for proper level of the chanincase oil. The manual says nothing about how one fully drains the chaincase. Anyone willing to share with me how this is done?

Thanks,
K Drossel and Little Joe (the 463)

I changed the chaincase oil in an 843 which had no drain plug, just a check plug in the front. Pulled front cover that is under your feet inside cab. Scooped out oil with a cut off plastic gallon jug, the pushed a few rags around the bottom with a broom handle to get all the goop out. takes a bit more time but gets it clean and chains get looked at.

I never worked on a 463 so I dont know if my info is relevant, but the 7 and 8 series machines have a small plate underneath at where the back of the chaincase would be. There is 2 plugs in there 1 for the fuel tank the other for the chaincase, it's just an aluminum plug pushed inside a rubber grommet. Hope this helps
