1967 Lorain Crane?

I have a 1967 L35 Military Lorain Crane. We are trying to make sure all of our fluids are topped off. The manual is confusing and over-simplified as they can be back then. The one I am trying to figure out is a pipe thread cap with a dipstick. It isn"t the hydralic resivoir but it is the only other cap that is the same. I will try to post pic"s, but it is in the country, I figured that I would see if any one is knowledgeable about this particular crane.

Thanks.

Not familiar with the Lorains but most of the other brands I work on often have that type setup on the box for the main drive chain or gearbox.
