I just dissasembled the hyd cylinder on my JD 420C. I removed the rod to put on a new seal kit. There is a star shaped nut on the end of the rod that i cant unfasten. Its a soft metal and has splines like a driveshaft. Any advise with this would be great. Thanks

I wonder if you could use a pipe wrench to remove it. If the threads stick out beond the nut you could see if you can match it up with a new regular nut before you may destroy the old odd one
