Bout knocked my teeth out bashing it in to a tree to free stuck clutch. Have sprayed lots of PB Blaster down in to it. Looking at the tech manual I don"t see how it could get to the discs anyway. So it"s time to bite the bullet and take it in. Don"t have the time to rip in to it and need it. $1800.00 was the estimate.Nice old machine but is a money pit.

No, not true. With a Deere 450 - finals stay on and clutches come out the top - just like an Allis Chalmers. Deere 420, 1010, 350, and 2010 - finals do have to come off.

Just to clarify, on the 2010, as noted in the shop manual, "if only the steering clutch is to be serviced, it will not be necessary to remove the final drive housing from the tractor."
I've owned my 2010 since 1975 and have pulled the clutch pack several times, without removing the final drive.

On the 450 series - which is based on the 2010 but a bit different . . . all you have to do is pull the top pinion shaft out of the final drive after removing the three-bolt bearing quill. Then the steering-clutch assembly with brake comes right out the top.

As least you can pull those steering clutches from the top without taking off the final drives.

If you drain the clutch housings once in awhile, and tie back the steering clutch levers when in storage (to take the pressure off the clutch disks) - it will never get stuck.

Have put some serious money into it over the years. I might have earned almost enough to cover repairs. I'm not in to the major stuff myself.
