Hi Guys,

I need some advice/help please. I have a JCB 3C11. The hydraulic pump at the front has started to spray out fluid on one side when heavy pressure is put on it. I am only a leaner mechanic and trying to keep my machine running myself. I have been quoted £180stg+vat for a seal/repair kit for it, and been told I would be better off putting in a s/h pump as the casing on mine could be cracked and a seal kit could be a waste of time. How does this sound to you, or any one have experience of this? Any info would be appricated....

Thank You.
Michael.

If it were a fairly new/newer machine I'd consider trying to reaseal it, but only if it were substantially cheaper than the new one and I could return the parts if further damage was found when the pump was opened up. Tyically if a pumps shaft seal is leaking there is either a groove worn in the shaft, or something inside the pump is worn/damaged enough to allow higher than normal pressure to get to the seal in turn causing it to leak or completely blow out.
